Random Thoughts: Kicking Depression’s Ass

Our Generation has had no Great war, no Great Depression. Our war is spiritual. Our depression is our lives.
Chuck Palahniuk

My relationship with depression has been the longest term relationship that I’ve ever had.

I think we’ve been together for 20 years almost. Wow, isn’t that like, the Prozac anniversary?

This cut out would be awesome for hangover days or days where you’d just like to go shopping/fishing. who’s with me?

We commune and argue and separate and return predictably to each other like co-dependent lovers:
Toxic, but intertwined at the cellular level.

I will never be one of those people who decides that because “I’m feeling well, I’m quitting my meds.”
It’s too predictable and precarious a thought to entertain….for me. I’ve seen that train derail enough through family members.

Depression is a constant, albeit unwanted familiar but it reminds me of strength and fortitude.

Because I’ve worked to never let it stop me, I feel that this is a triumph of sorts.

I refuse to give in to the idea that giving up is somehow an option. That’s a ridiculous thought to me.

I’m in a bout right now, so I’m reading poetry and literature, going for walks, talking to my wife, the stuff that’s helpful for me.

Wishing you all good things in your journey, monkiss

“Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.”

Anxiety is wonderful: no, really!

Please, if you never listen to another thing, listen to your gut.

Doing things you’re scared to do, that people think you must be crazy for doing are those things that you must do.

We are here for too little time not to embrace our dreams and follow them where ever they lead.

I’m going to my second orientation on a new job I love tonight….I’m working hard and I work alot and I love what I do…

I don’t know how anyone can spend so much time on a job they hate..I’ve never been able to myself…

we don’t have time for a comfortable, discontented life.

So here are some famous words for you to face the fear and jump with your eyes closed and fingers crossed!

We gain strength, and courage, and confidence by each experience in which we really stop to look fear in the face… we must do that which we think we cannot.
Eleanor Roosevelt

In order to succeed, your desire for success should be greater than your fear of failure.

The whole secret of existence is to have no fear. Never fear what will become of you, depend on no one. Only the moment you reject all help are you freed.

Question with boldness even the existence of a God; because, if there be one, he must more approve of the homage of reason, than that of blind-folded fear.
Thomas Jefferson

What I Did On My Summer Vacation Life

Hi everyone! I’ve missed you all so much.

How was your summer? What was your favourite memory?

Maybe you haven’t made one yet….maybe you made one today.

Aaah summer…I didn’t do this enough this year.

Here’s my summer in a top 10 list:

1. Birthday!
B made me an awesome cake and we went out for dinner. We always have fun together she and I.

2. Work
Vacationing co workers meant 12 hour days, a lot of icecream and running through the sprinklers with the boys.
We had a pretty crazy amount of fun.

This was totally me. Waffle cones, cups, sundaes, you name it, I ate it!

3. Stay-cation
Eat. sleep. Beers on patios with friends. Lather. Rinse. Repeat.

From the Canadian comedy show, Corner Gas, as long as you got a lawn chair and a Kokanee Beer, it might as well be Punta Cana to me!

4. Anniversary
Married for 2 years and she still doesn’t wanna kill me.
We were here for brunch.

The Fort Garry Hotel in Winnipeg. Best Food EVER!

5. Sleeeeeep
After a month of 12-14 hours shifts and hiring new staff, I was tired!

6. Go to the gym.
I can now run 4.5 miles. Hobbling to the bathroom seems like a distant memory!
But my feet look like the feet of 2 different people stuck on my same body.

…not my actual feet!

7. Train for a second job.
More money, more other people’s problems.

Maybe I should charge more

8. Get ready for school.
Spend summer saving, spend it all on my future in one afternoon *sigh*

Canada’s $100 bill, part see-through/part made of polymer…whose dumb idea was this?

9. Seem to be constantly busy!

10. Think of you my fellow bloggers, with love and fondness! …xo

Peace,Love and a few weeks left of summer here in the Northern Hemisphere.

My butt hurts and other things

I used to run…not so much from the cops or mall security (anymore) more so for-fun athletic, race-type things.

Running is very zen/meditative for me, you’re pushing yourself along letting your mind wander as you start to get into a rhythym and your breath gets used to a sped up steady pace.

When B. got us a gym membership about a month ago, I carved out some space in my work day to go with her.

It’s reminded me of how much fun the gym is!

I can’t run yet, given the broken foot, but I’m doing laps in the pool, workouts on the elliptical machines and getting lost in my daydreams, ๐Ÿ˜€

But wow, the next day, after a bunch of lunges, does my ass hurt.

my bum would say squats are not my friend

B and I are happily hobbling around and soothing our sore muscles, delighted we’re getting back into better shape.

Sometimes I feel every month of my approaching 34 years but a sit in the hot tub, and I work out all the knots.

Still, can’t wait til my glutes stop yelling at me!

What do you like to do with your body? For fun or fitness?
